CEO of BANKSETA

Max Makhubalo has been CEO of BANKSETA since 2007 to date.  Since his joining the organisation, the BANKSETA has made great strides in launching the first Centre of Excellence in Fort Hare University in 2007; the launch of the IEDP Canada, the Bridging the gap programme aimed at learners with disabilities and other innovative solutions offered by the SETA.  Under Max’s leadership, the BANKSETA has once again received an unqualified audit report for the 2010/11 financial year for the eleventh consecutive year. This has ensured that the BANKSETA retains its position as the top performing SETA, a position it has held for the past 11 years.  Max has played a pivotal role in his previous role as CEO of the Free State Development Corporation since 2000 to 2005.

Max has a B Admin Honours in Public Administration and Personnel Management, MDP from Wits Business Business School. As a lifelong learner himself, Max has completed various executive management programmes both in South Africa and abroad.

He has extensive experience in training and development gained in his previous role at Sasol as Head of HR in Synthetic Fuels and Group Training and Development Manager. His major achievement at SA Breweries was a re-engineering process within HR where he drove new levels of performance management and employment equity. Max sits on several boards namely, Chairman on the Salt Lake Minerals. He has been listed in the “Who’s Who of Southern Africa since 2002.
